Monthly pricing, assortment, and marketplace intelligence across Latin America's leading platforms — Mercado Libre, Amazon.br, Falabella, Magazine Luiza, and Linio.

Based on our Amazon.br data extraction pipeline: Amazon.br added 14,200 new active third-party sellers in May — the highest single-month total ever recorded. Prime membership adoption in Brazil crossed 8 million — a 34% year-over-year jump. Mercado Libre's lead is narrowing, but its dominance persists.

1. Amazon.br's Consumer Electronics Assault
Amazon.br grew consumer electronics SKU count 62% year-over-year — driven by aggressive positioning against Mercado Libre in the category. Categories: smartphones, laptops, and smart home. Prime same-day delivery is the killer feature.
2. Mercado Libre's Defensive Fintech Play
In response to Amazon.br's growth, Mercado Libre expanded Mercado Credito (embedded credit) to accept purchases from Magalu, Americanas, and other retailers. This positions ML as the LATAM "payment layer" — a defensive moat Amazon can't easily replicate.
3. Cross-Border From China Compression
Chinese sellers on Mercado Libre Brazil now face 4-6 day delivery windows (was 12-18 days). Direct-from-China listings are visibly gaining share in electronics accessories and beauty accessories — categories where price advantage compensates for perceived quality risk.
This month's report draws from 4.6 million LATAM marketplace data points captured through our Mercado Libre product data scraping, Amazon.br data extraction, Falabella marketplace scraping, and additional regional platform monitoring between May 1 and May 31, 2026.
